With the year 2021 already in full gear, itโ€™s about time the world should admit that all of us barely got through 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic not only took the jobs of millions of people but also crippled the education system as online classes have made it more difficult to cope with the proportionately increasing workload and stress that every student has to face.

Through the third installment of Liyabโ€™s webinar series held last Saturday, January 30, entitled, โ€œKapoy! Battling Burnout and Boredomโ€, the record number of over 400 participants were enlightened about students' most crucial enemies -- stress and burnout.

The event was made possible in collaboration with Kinaadman โ€“ Student Council of Brokenshire College (School of Medicine), The Rock โ€“ Official Student Publication of San Pedro College, and The Petroglyphs โ€“ Official Student Publication of San Pedro College (SHS Department).

Trisha Kaye Bautista from The Petroglyphs opened the webinar with a prayer and Liyab Managing Editor Judy Andrea Palado greeted the virtual audience through her opening remarks.

After an introduction, Dr. Abegail P. Lozada-Laganao, a Board-Certified Psychiatrist specializing in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry, graced the event as the first speaker for the session. Dr. Lozada-Laganao gave a thorough lecture about the definitions of stress and burnout, including their signs and symptoms, and more importantly, tackled the different ways to manage and battle them.

The second speaker, Ms. Diane Tresha Y. Regino, a BA Communication and Media Arts student from the University of the Philippines โ€“ Mindanao, and a former President of the SPC- Sandigan Supreme Student Government, shared her own relatable experiences as well as her own process of overcoming burnout which was to โ€œacknowledge, share, and redeemโ€.

Both speakers ended each of their talks with an open forum, answering thought-provoking questions from the participants.

Liyab Social Media Editor and Webinar Project Head, Akira Michico Sam, gave the closing remarks as he thanked everyone for the success of the biggest installment of Liyabโ€™s Webinar Series to date.

Deankier Corrales and Lhou Rhenz Padillo from SPC's Speech Society hosted the event.

Meanwhile, plans for the next Liyab webinars are in the works. The student publication expresses its intention to other willing student organizations and institutions open for partnership.
