As the pandemic forces everyone to shift to an online platform, this has created a unique chance for international opportunities to suddenly become available to everyone. Osmosis, one of the leading online resources for medical lectures and crash courses, has helped medical students all around the world. They’ve taken this season to expand their online presence and do what they can to help future health care professionals reach their career goals.
Last Saturday, February 20, 2021, Osmosis met with the medical students of Davao City in their free webinar to discuss the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1.
Hosted and organized by Moushami Roy, an Osmosis Medical Education Fellow and graphic artist from Liyab’s IMD Team, the event was attended by almost 300 participants from both international and local students of DMSFI who have expressed their interest concerning the USMLE. In the first part of the webinar, she discussed the necessary requirements and clearly explained the complicated process of applying for the exam in the case of medical students living outside the United States.
The second part was facilitated by the guest speaker, Santiago Callegari, a medical student from Bogota, Colombia, and a member of the Osmosis team who has had experience taking the USMLE Step 1 and passed with very high marks. In this segment, he talked about his experience in preparing for and taking the exam itself. After his brief talk, an open forum was held in which he answered the questions and concerns of the webinar participants.
The short but informative event was well-received by the students and opened an avenue for more international opportunities for the DMSFI community.
